Abstract :The COVID-19 pandemic has become a global health issue and has had a major impact on education.As a result, learning methods were transferred through distance learning (DL) halfway through the second semester or final of the 2019/2020 academic year. Academic institutions are compelled to make appropriate and timely modifications in order to continue to deliver education and to sustain the continuation of student academic progress.The teaching and learning activities were immediately shifted to a full e-learning.This will lead to a big change in the field of education.Children and parents have become literate in electronic media.This article aims to provide the details about some e- resources that will help  the teachers, parents and students learn English language simply and effectively.By learning this global language they can explore the world more freely.

Introduction

The World Health Organization announced the outbreak of the SARS-CoV2 pandemic earlier this year, which has now become a public health challenge worldwide.The infection control and physical distancing measures are crucial to prevent the virus from further spreading and to help control the pandemic situation.The compulsory physical distance policy has been implemented in many countries, including India, which is closing schools and universities across the country.In accordance with this policy, academic institutions are compelled to make appropriate and timely modification in order to continue to deliver education and to sustain the continuation of student academic progress.The teaching and learning activities were immediately shifted to a full e-learning.In this scenario, it is very urgent to learn the global language to cope up with the new changes.This is something students and parents need to learn. This article definitely helps everyone to learn the language fantastically. Come let's explore!

 e- learning

It is necessary to follow and understand the e- learning platforms in this context.E-learning is defined as learning that makes use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). The incorporation of technological resources and innovative education strategies has transformed the teaching and learning processes.While teaching can be based in or out of the classrooms, the use of computers and the Internet forms are the major component of e-learning. e-learning can also be termed as a network enabled transfer of skills and knowledge, and the delivery of education is made to a large number of recipients at the same or different times.

    For eg.In Kerala, the classes were given through KITE VICTERS Channel during this pandemic.

VICTERS (Versatile ICT Enabled Resource for Students) is an edutainment channel in Malayalam language operated by KITE under the Department of General and Higher Education (Kerala) and is wholly owned by the Government of Kerala. The channel is headquartered in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

Tools for teaching and learning  the universal language 

Teaching of a foreign language is a big challenge before the teachers.Teaching of English is really a big task for the teachers who teach English subjects in Indian scenarios due to the influence of mother tongue. One more thing is that there is a phobia among the students to learn a foreign language. The 21st century is an age of technology and use of technology can make the teaching-learning of English effective.Besides this, there is a growing need of parents and students to learn  this because of the changing situations.

Let us check some various- resources which we can use for teaching and learning of English.

1) Dictionary 

            Many new models of mobile phones give access to the Dictionary, even you can download the dictionary which you like e.g. English to Malayalam, Malayalam  to English and so on. Besides the meaning, such dictionaries also provide accurate pronunciation of the word .Many times teachers also don’t know the accurate pronunciation of a particular word so such a dictionary is very useful for the teachers and students. Moreover anytime quickly you can search the meaning of a word and can save your time.

2) Microsoft Encarta

            Microsoft, a well known software production company, has produced learning resources also and Encarta is one of that the information about various branches of study has been given. Literary information, literary works contributed by English authors are provided in a very simple language.

            EnglishBanana.com is a free ELT resource. They publish worksheets, books, podcasts, videos, learning material, and other resources for teaching and learning English, ESL, ESOL, and EFL.

4) www.englishgrammar.com

            Self-learning of grammar is motivated on this site. Along with self-learning group work, peer work is also promoted and such activities are introduced. Quality work booklets are provided on this site.

         In India we learn the English language as a second or third language. So flashcards are very useful for the direct introduction of unfamiliar words.This site provides ample flash cards for the use of teachers and their goal is to provide quality, easy to use language flashcards in as many languages as possible, especially the lesser known languages

       This website helps to make the teaching learning process joyful. British Council offers English language courses,  including our IELTS test in more than 100 countries every year.             We  will also find very interesting collaborative online games on this site. Besides these various techniques, videos & projects of English language are also given on this site. Teachers can also refer to this site to get updated information, research, and experiments in the field of English language teaching.

            This site offers free reading worksheet generators, phonics printable makers, a free spelling worksheet maker, and spelling activity/phonics activity generator. There are also some phonics game templates which we can use to make supplemental activities and exercises for our students.

  This website is also useful for the teachers and students of English language .They offer worksheets, create worksheets, funtime games, online math, and more.

            This website provides various resources for the educators.

            WIKI stands for ‘what I know is’. This is the biggest online collaborative encyclopedia. Teachers can search information on this site even if they can contribute by editing the information.

            UsingEnglish.com provides a large and growing collection of English as a Second Language (ESL) tools & resources for students, teachers, learners and academics, covering the full spectrum of ESL, EFL, ESOL, and EAP subject areas.

15) Teaching English with Technology: A Journal for Teachers of English

 This is a free open access online journal which will definitely help the teachers to get information and innovative practices for the teaching of English in the classroom.

16)TED talks are quite popular, and with this website, students can find any number of videos related to a topic they are interested in.

           Webinars, educational blogs, podcasts also will help teachers , parents and students to teach and learn English.

            Conclusion 

This current COVID-19 pandemic, changes not only the utilization of technology in education but the pedagogy strategies in the future.English is a global language .Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru said that it is a window to the modern world. English is an international language, spoken in many countries both as a native and as a second or foreign language.With the help of these e-resources teaching and learning of English can be made joyful & easy.
